A word from Big Sur Engine 18,
Every April, Big Sur hosts the International Big Sur Marathon which brings thousands of people together for a great event. There are folks who run as a passion and some who run for more. As a group of wildland firefighters, we have an intimate connection to the tremendous benefits of fitness and running for physical and mental health.
We have seen first hand the great things the Wildland Firefighter Foundation has done and feel this is a fantastic way to show our support, as well as raise awareness from outside of the fire community. This upcoming 2024 Big Sur Marathon will have folks from the local Big Sur Engine 18 out of the Los Padres NF participating in the full marathon as well as the relay race, all working towards the same goal of bringing awareness to the Foundation and their great work.
